After the holidays bringing about the usual craze, we are back at it again with a two-week recap. The holidays were busy, but plenty still happened to cover. Here’s what we found noteworthy:
I guess this falls under console news, but Android users can now preregister for Super Mario Run! Just head over the Play Store and search the game. Instead of an install option, you are prompted to preregister for the game. The only information given on the Play Store is that the game is coming soon, so keep an eye open!
Another set of potential Nintendo Switch Specs has been leaked! We aren’t sure if these are correct or not, but they don’t look too shabby if I do say so myself.
After the release of the PS4 Pro, some more talk begins to arise about a potential PlayStation 5 this year. It is still too early to even begin to speculate, but we will see what 2017 brings the PlayStation community.
Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas released on Xbox One. This is an extensive overall to the original game and adds over 20 hours of gameplay jus to the campaign!
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition comes to Xbox Early Access, but with a small caveat: it is only accessible to those of us who preordered Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition. So if you are one of the dedicated Halo fans who preordered Halo Wars 2 then enjoy the early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition!
Are you a Killer Instinct fan? If so, there is a brand new DLC costume for owners of the Thunder base character. And better yet, the DLC costume is absolutely free! The costume was created in light of the game development team wanting to be more culturally representative, and takes cues and designs from the Nez Percé warrior tradition. This will be the first character in the game to have been given a third costume option, and the team has worked really hard on it to keep it culturally accurate. Do you have the DLC or do you plan to get it? If so, let us know what you think of the costume!
Super Mario Run gets an updated to V 1.0.2! Though this seems exciting at first, the update mainly consists of patches and “under the hood” improvements. Hopefully, we will see a more substantial update soon.
Pokemon GO launches part 2 of the Holiday Event. The event includes longer lure module times, higher spawn rates for the three starter Pokemon and their evolutions, and features sale item packs. I have FINALLY been catching more Charmanders now that the update has been out. It’s a bout time!
The next Assassin’s Creed came is rumored to be released on the Nintendo Switch at launch, alongside both the PS4 and Xbox One release. I hope this is true because not only am I an Assassin’s Creed fan, but I also plan on buying the Switch at launch. I would love for this game to be one of the first new games to be added to the Switch games catalog.
IGN announces their “Game of the Year” nominees and calls for gamers to vote on their favorite games! So head over to the site and vote, vote, vote! I personally voted for Monster Hunter Generations because of the games I’ve played it is the one I have enjoyed the most, but I expect games like Overwatch, Final Fantasy XV, and Dishonored 2 to be among the final contestants. Let us know both what you voted for and what you expect to win!
Nintendo releases new Guardian artwork for those of us waiting patiently, or impatiently in my case, for the Zelda: Breath of the Wild release. The artwork releases some of the weaponry the Guardian will be wielding, and leaves fans of the franchise wondering just how intense these enemies will actually be. All I can say for now is that I am beyond excited for this game to finally be release!
Well, that was a lot to get through, and, obviously, we even left out a couple things! The gaming community continues to grow, and as the new year has come and gone, we find ourselves looking out into 2017 with high hopes for what this year has to bring us. What are you most excited about this year? Is there a game release that you are particularly excited about? What about the allusive Project Scorpio we have been hearing about? Let us know what you are most excited about in the comments below, or feel free write an article for us over on the home page. We would love to hear what you think. But until next time, stay tuned for more news, game reviews, and rumors.
